Take Me Home, United Road!

Manchester United emerged victorious over 10-man QPR on Sunday, as the result lifted the Red Devils eight points clear of Manchester City.

United opened the scoring in the 15th minute when QPR were reduced to 10 men after captain Shaun Derry pushed over Ashley Young in the box.  While the footage appears to show Young may have taken a slight dive, Wayne Rooney stepped up and slotted the spot kick home to give United an early lead.

While United had many chances to add to the tally throughout the first-half, their efforts were unable to find the back of the net.  However, the Red Devils were eventually able to find another break through.  The goal came courtesy of Paul Scholes' right-foot as he smashed a an absolute ballistic missile past QPR keeper Patrick Kenny to extend their lead to two.  After the goal United came close to a third through Michael Carrick who attempted to out do Scholes with a blast from 35-yards out, but his effort rang the post and fizzled out.

The rest of the match was more of the same, with squandered chances and multiple mistakes from QPR's midfield.  Giggs was brought on in the 62nd minute for Ashley Young, while Phil Jones and Tom Cleverly replaced Scholes and Rafael in the 74th.

All things considered, it was comprehensive victory.  Manchester dominated the flow of the game as well as the time of possession, with the influence of Paul Scholes in a central midfield role once again playing a vital role.
