USA vs. Jamaica Preview - Gold Cup 2015

The United States find themselves in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarterfinals, facing Jamaica who they have played a total of 22 times since 1980.   The US holds the advantage historically with a record of 13 wins, 1 loss and 8 ties.   Before diving into this match, lets take a look back at how the US got to this point. Group A: USA 2 – 1 Honduras Group A play began with a match against Honduras.   The result came courtesy of two Clint Dempsey goals, finding his first goal of the tournament in the 29 th minute.    Dempsey’s finished a scramble in the box by heading a rebound past the sprawling Honduran goalkeeper, giving the US an early lead.   He then added his second goal in the 64 th minute once again using his head as the weapon of choice.   Honduras found a potential lifeline in the 68 th when substitute Carlos Discua finished coolly past US goalie Brad Guzan, but this was not enough to alter the fixture in their favor. USA vs. Panama Lineup Preview - 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup

The United States claimed max points against Honduras and Haiti in their first two matches of Group A, crowning them as the winners of Group A.   However, the US will be tested when they take the pitch tonight at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas as Panama fight to join them in the knockout stage. The 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup begins tonight with Group A match play opening the 13 th edition of the Gold Cup since its  formation  in 1991.   This group features a field of team’s headlines by the United States.   Rounding out the group is Panama, Honduras and Haiti.  Here is a look at tonight's matches... Panama vs. Haiti  Panama enters the tournament 54 th in the FIFA rankings. Los Angeles Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo will feature in goal for a squad that features two other key players who play in Major League Soccer.   Blas Perez, FC Dallas, and Gabriel Torres, Colorado Rapids, will be tasked with supplying the majority of scoring opportunities.   Panama has an all-time tournament record of 10-9-9 and finished as the 2013 runners up.   This was the second time the nation had fallen to the USA in a Gold Cup Final.
